Suggestion to know the Resident Evil series

Resident Evil is a well-known series but it is more than 20 years old and inevitably there are many young people who never had contact with the beginning of everything. With that in mind, I want to suggest the versions that I believe offer differentiated experiences and that allow you to dive into the essence of this franchise.

- Resident Evil (PC)

The first game in the franchise has an image closely linked to the Playstation and contributed a lot to its success, but the American version for PC brought something more, greater difficulty and resolution. In this version we have scenes in color and without censorship, there is no possibility to adjust the difficulty and we can meet the real survivor. The original game without the subsequent modifications. The game is for Windows 95/98 so it is necessary to invest in compatible hardware for that system or install a virtual machine on the PC, I emphasize that a bug occurs with Jill when playing with very powerful CPUs, it can be circumvented by running away from the first monster coming out from the dining room to meet Wesker several times until the monster comes after you.

- Resident Evil 2 (Dreamcast)

Resident Evil VMU
At this point in the franchise Dreamcast appears offering something more than graphics and all the additions to the Dual Shock version of the Playstation like extra game modes and gamepad vibration. It is a PC port that includes a gallery of images, and as a plus the VMU memory connected to the controller providing information such as ammunition quantity and health without having to access the game menu.

- Resident Evil 3 (Dreamcast)

It is also a PC port, offering better graphics and unlocked clothing and Mercenaries. The experience provided by VMU is also present.

- Resident Evil Code Veronica (Dreamcast)

This game has two versions, the original release can only be played on Dreamcast and version X was later released to other platforms with altered images and added scenes. For me the original game is more important. This version also provides visual information about the game in the VMU.

- Resident Evil 4 (Nintendo Wii)

Resident Evil 4 is not part of the classic era of the series but it is a good game that has given new direction to the franchise that influences the new games until today. Originally launched for the Gamecube, the Wii version added the extra game modes present on the Playstation 2 and brought a unique experience with its revolutionary controller.

In this list I tried to show why these versions bring something different that adds more to the game experience. I did not consider the later games due to sameness on all platforms and for departing from the essence of the series. All of these games can be run in emulators, even providing the VMU screen, so it will suit younger players who want to feel it on their skin and do not have the original hardware.
